What are Segments?

In today’s context and advanced marketing techniques marketers they need to target a specific audience for their campaigns – sending a targeted campaign works more than sending it to everyone. Emailworks provides advanced segmentation functions which can allow you to create the rules to filter only the targeted subscribers and send an email to them only.
How can I create a Segment?
To create a new segment go to the “subscriber lists” and then click on any of the list which will give you several options to choose, click on the “Segments” now click on “Create a new segment” link. This will take you to the screen where in you can create a new segment – as shown in the below screen shot.
Here you will have to define the segment name – this is for your ready reference. For example we want to send an email only to people having yahoo.com email address, we can name the segment as “People having yahoo mail ID” – then we select the match – whether the segment should match all the rules or any one of the rule, under the rules you have to select the field you want to create a rule for.
For our example we will select the “Email Address” field – this would create one drop down menu and one text box – the drop down menu will have a condition – select the condition and enter the value in the text field.
If you want to create only one rule – you can just click on “Create” button and finish creating the segment with only one rule.
Can I copy segments from another list?
Yes – Emailworks provides you an easy to use copy feature which can allow you to copy the segment from another list saving your time to re-create a similar segment.
In order to copy a segment from another list go to Segments > Copy segment from another list – this will create a dialogue box asking you to select the list from where you want to copy the segment.
Now from the drop down select the related list you want to copy the segment from and click “Copy” – this will copy the segments already created from another subscriber list.
