Why NOT use Google apps?

Privacy
Google knows already everthing about us. But are you aware of the fact that:

  • your current mail provider has acces to your mail as well? And they (also) didn't do anything with it?
  • there is no motif for Google to do something with your information (accept for putting targetted adds on the site when using free services). If they would do something with your private information, they would blow thier own business model

You have to be online
That's true. But how do you want to send email trough Outlook when you don't have a working connection?
Even if you want to work offline with Google docs and Email, just install Gears.

If Google is down, I can't do anything
True. What will you do when your own server is down? Google has a better uptime then most servers, because there are so many users dpending on it. So they invest more in this.

Google is becoming too powerfull
You may have heard about a little company called Microsoft? Almost EVERYBODY is working with Windows, Office and Outlook. AND you are willing to pay for it. Isn't that odd?

Saving my at Google documents is not scure
Apart from technical issues (it's being very well taken care of), there is no motif for Google to abuse sensitive information. It would ruin their business model.

Google docs has less functionality then MS Office
True. If we use the full potential of MS Office. Research shows that we are using only 10%. Functionality of docs is enough for most users. Large documents can still better be handeled bij an offline application like MS Office. Or you might consider the almost equally competent Openoffice.org (=free!).
